The Opportunity:

We are currently recruiting a Senior Lecturer to join our Leadership and Management team based in Berlin.

The Senior Lecturer will work with the Deputy Heads of School, the Head of School, and Lecturers to ensure the efficient and effective delivery of programmes in accordance with University strategy, policies and procedures and undertake research and scholarly activity.

Senior Lecturers have academic leadership responsibilities which are likely to involve a combination of the following, in discussion with their Deputy Head of School/Head of School/Dean of Faculty:

  • Responsibility for an area of the Leadership and Management programme (such as Arden Welcome Week, Learning & Teaching, Research & Scholarship, etc.).
  • Overall responsibility for a centre, mode of delivery, a year group or cohort within a large programme.
  • Senior Lecturers are expected to teach 8 hours on-site twice a week in each Study Block, and provide weekly office hours for students in-centre.
  • Line management of Lecturers (who may themselves lead modules)
  • Designing and delivering sessions, both synchronously (live training sessions) and asynchronously (online modules)
  • Leadership and management for UG and PG DL programmes.
  • All lecturers are expected to contribute to the academic citizenship of the Berlin Study Centre by participating in one of more of our committees aimed at improving teaching excellence, student life and research.

About You:

We would like to hear from applicants who have / are:

  • Dynamic and confident academic leader with skill sets to connect with stakeholders at different levels and dispersed in several geographic locations, such as- UK, Germany and locations covering partner institutes.
  • Able to interpret and analyse complex data sets to inform teaching and management of teaching.
  • Demonstrable ability in the design and management of programmes, preferably with previous relevant experience.
  • Demonstrable ability in the teaching, learning and assessment practice in both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, within an HE setting.
  • Experience of teaching within an online learning context and familiarity using virtual learning environments and other tools to support students learning.
  • Educated to Masters or PhD within the field of equivalent relevant industry experience.
  • Possess or be prepared to undertake an appropriate teaching qualification.
  • A highly motivated team player with excellent interpersonal, communication skills
  • Experience working in an intercultural environment, and with international students (in the context of an IBC).
